In the field of international trade and logistics for chemical products, carbon dioxide (CO2) is a widely used compressed gas subject to stringent regulations both domestically and globally. For mainstream CO₂ products with specifications ranging from 8g to 88g - including standard laboratory gas, food-grade inflatable cylinders and gas for fire extinguishers - a fully complete Safety Data Sheet (SDS, formerly known as MSDS) compiled in compliance with the UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS) is a must for compliant business operations, and also underpins safety across the entire supply chain.
 
Many industry practitioners wonder: Do small-packaged CO₂ products really require an SDS?
Even for cylinders between 8g and 88g, carbon dioxide is chemically classified as a Class 2 dangerous goods (compressed gas).
