Air gun and steel BBs

Air guns use compressed air to propel projectiles, usually steel BBs. When the trigger is pulled, a valve opens and releases compressed air into the barrel of the gun, pushing the BB forward. The force of the air pressure creates a controlled explosion inside the barrel, accelerating the BB to high speeds.

The accuracy of an air gun depends on the consistency of the air pressure and the precision of the barrel. The projectile must fit snugly in the barrel to prevent air from escaping around it and reducing the force of the air pressure. Rifling, or the spiral grooves inside the barrel, spin the BB as it travels, stabilizing its trajectory and improving accuracy.

Air guns are often used for target shooting and small game hunting, and are prized for their ability to deliver high velocity and powerful shots without the added cost and noise of traditional firearms. However, proper safety measures must be taken when handling air guns, as they can still be dangerous and lethal if misused.
