Hey all, just a little something you may not be aware of and if you are, then I hope to reach the uninitiated is all. BB steel balls are sold stating they are 4.5mm or .177 in diameter. I am in the UK and I currently have around 5000 of these sitting around for use with an Umarex PPK/S. They certainly are NOT the stated size and are far less. I have a digital vernier caliper and have measured the OD from various brands sold here. Whats the rub, because of that that, the muzzle velocity is less (because CO2 leaks past the ball when the trigger is pulled) Umarex state that the muzzle velocity is around 295 fps. If you shoot industrial high grade close tolerance ball bearings, that are in fact 4.5mm diameter and not e.g 4.3 something, then not only will your CO2 last longer, but the muzzle velocity could double up to 600fps. More hitting power and not so much of a plinky then. I have recently bought 10 from a firm and they are just the business, best of all, still legal in the nanny state UK where I live. They just don't want you to know it. Good hunting all.
